Optimizing for Low Bandwidth Environments

Modified on Sun, 14 Sep at 2:26 PM

When using Netop in low bandwidth environments use these steps to optimize the configuration for improved performance speeds.

  • Reduce the colors used in the display settings in the Guest > Connection Properties > Display tab

Add this line to the c:\windows\netop.ini to reduce the frame rate on the Host computer, setting is the number of milliseconds it waits between capturing the screen again, increasing that makes it capture less frequent. Restart the Netop Helper Services in Windows services to activate:

[HOST]

WaitBeforeAnotherSnapShot=300; default=10 - up to 300

In the Guest>Connection Properties>Compression Encryption tab

  • Modify JPEG compression with the slider in the middle, or on speed
  • Not using high encryptions also helps with speed
